(Asshuara’) 26 : 149
وَتَنْحِتُونَ مِنَ الْجِبَالِ بُيُوتًا فَارِهِينَ

“And you carve out of the mountains with great skill for houses”.

Hill and mountains are cast on earth as nails for keeping the earth in its equilibrium as explained in verses 16: 15-16. It is told in verse 30: 41: “Mischief is appeared on the land and in the sea because of what men’s hands have earned, so that He may let them taste something of what they have earned so that they may turn back to the aim of life”.

If Thamud people used to carve mountains for houses, today the people are crushing mountains for building constructions. But the Arabic Quran reading Fujjar who read these verses are not acknowledging mankind about the consequences; instead, they are in forefront of activities that are destroying nature. That is why they are denoted as the worst creatures as explained in verse 8: 22. See explanation 2: 62; 6: 47 and 7: 174.
